Denise Therrien was born in Toronto, Canada and is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design. She has exhibited her glass works internationally and has completed numerous large-scale public and private commissions.

Through the medium of hot and cold glass, Denise integrates geometry and the abstraction of forms through explorations of light and colour. Her studio practise is informed by her studies in mythology and symbology.

Where as the architectural and landscape installations are geometrically structured and more pictorial in form, her fusion works embrace an expressive abstract quality. Through multiple firings, these painterly works integrate a variety of form and depth of light through the layering of glass and precious metals.

Denise Therriens’ public commissions have included the Manulife Centre, Mount Sinai Hospital, Baycrest Synagogue, Lansing United Church. Private commissions of large-scale glass mosaic installations are throughout Canada, USA and Portugal.

Denise is currently re-locating her Toronto studio to Cape Breton, Canada. She has been working on building a new studio building in the midstof a heritage orchard in Margaree Valley, with the aim for the new studio to be operational come 2021.

A selection of Denise's glass jewellery is available from the Art Gallery of Peterborough and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery shops.
